Our Calendar of Events

The Cape Cod Model RailRoad Club meets on Saturdays in the summer and Thursdays in the winter (Oct-Apr) of each month at our New Haven baggage car at the West Barnstable Train Station on Meetinghouse Road (Route 149). In general, the second Thursday of the month is reserved as a business meeting. In addition, the club meets frequently for unscheduled events including The Cape Cod Model Railroad Show, held in April, the West Barnstable Village Festival, National Train Day and the Spaghetti Dinner at the West Barnstable Fire Station. The Modular Division of the Club also sets up for special events including the WBFD Christmas Breakfast. We may also be found at a number of regional events including train shows in New England. Below please find a listing of Monthly Meetings, Events, Operating Sessions, and Classes for 2017-18:

The Railroading Merit Badge is ranked #74 in popularity for Merit Badges, probably because it isn't always easy to get as the requirements swiftly move from modeling to history to operations. In conjunction with the Cape Cod Chapter of the National Railroad Historical Society, our wonderful neighbors who restore and operate the West Barnstable Station, and Mass Coastal Railroad who operate live trains on Cape Cod, we are hoping to offer a one-day Railroad Merit Badge in the Spring of 2018. Check back or email us for updates and to register your interest.

Scouting USA: Model Design and Building

Class Schedule: Independent Study.
Dates: Ongoing
Field Trips: Not Required
Age Requirements: Must be enrolled in the Scouting Program. Visit here for more info

Model Design and Building is a specialized Merit Badge that would be of interest to a Scout interested in building a replica of a railroad car. Our experience suggests using one of the models of our Bradley and Osgood Coach as we have all the colours and decals in house. This project may be worked on individually or with other Scouts in a group. Check back or email us for updates and to register your interest.
